Concrete is a structural material as well as a finished surface. When it is designed and installed properly, it supports the home, handles daily use and manages water effectively. When shortcuts are taken, the result can be cracking, ponding water, movement around an extension or costly rectification work that disrupts the rest of the project.
Where residential concrete work is used
Concrete work supports far more than driveways. On renovation and extension projects, it commonly includes slab-on-ground construction, strip footings, pier footings, retaining elements, paths, patios, stairs, garage floors, pool surrounds and drainage channels. Each application has different loading, finish, reinforcement and excavation requirements.
