Composite Decking Boards Review: What Actually Matters
Most composite boards combine recycled timber fibres with plastic polymers and binding agents. The precise mix, board profile and protective finish vary considerably between manufacturers. Those differences affect fade resistance, surface texture, weight, movement in heat and the level of maintenance required over time.
Capped composite boards have a protective outer layer around the core. In many installations, this makes them more resistant to stains, moisture and surface fading than uncapped alternatives. They are often the stronger choice near barbecues, pools and outdoor dining areas, where sunscreen, food spills and wet feet are part of normal use.
